Bachelor party at the lake was a fun time and a success, no damage to the house. We are a month out from Memorial Day so I have to get cracking and get the place done. Tiling is next Monday so that will go a long way and then its the little things that need taken care of: trim work, etc. Here are a couple photos proving that we do indeed have a floor in the basement.

Found a great photo of my dad and scanned it in. I'm not sure where it was taken but it looks like a lot of fish to me. Dad always loved to fish and I fondly remember going out with him to creeks at dusk. He doesn't fish much anymore but I know he can still teach me a few tricks.

Went to the lake again Sunday and got some work done. Finished the hallway to the bathroom except for the end.

Did as much as I could on the closet.
Installed Henry's shelves and did our closet floor and walls.

I fit the profile according to this article in the paper today...Tea Partiers are wealthier and better educated than the general public, and the 18percent of Americans who identify themselves as such tend to be Republican, white, male, married and older than 45, according to a New York Times/CBS News poll.

They hold more conservative views than Republicans generally do. They are also more likely to describe themselves as "very conservative" and President Barack Obama as "very liberal."
And while most Republicans say they are "dissatisfied" with Washington, Tea Partiers are more likely to call themselves "angry."

Their responses to the poll are like the general public's in many ways. Most describe the amount they paid in taxes this year as "fair." Most send their children to public schools. A plurality do not think Sarah Palin is qualified to be president, and they call Social Security and Medicare worth the cost to taxpayers.

Tea Party supporters' animosity toward Washington, and the president in particular, is rooted in pessimism about the direction of the country and the conviction that the administration is disproportionately focused on helping the poor.

The overwhelming majority of supporters say Obama does not share the values most Americans live by. Twenty-five percent think that the administration favors blacks - compared with 11 percent of the public. Asked what they are angry about, Tea Partiers offered three concerns: the health-care overhaul, government spending and a feeling that their opinions are not represented.

I think I'm going to join the Tea Party, which is appropriate on this day of tax. I'm not entirely sure what the "platform" of the Party is but from the internet I believe its something along the line of "deep love for the uniqueness of the United States of America, a desire for the limited government that our Founding Fathers created, a fairly "strict" interpretation of the Constitution, a belief in capitalism and free enterprise and a strong sense of personal responsibility". I'm all for those things, especially if limited government means less taxes.

I was going to post my total tax payment this year, federal, state and local, medicare, etc. but I can't. It disgusts me how much we pay. This income redistribution is real. 47 percent of Americans pay no income tax. And it's worse than that, they actually get checks back from the federal government. The other 53 percent of us foot the bill for them. Another interesting note, the richest ten percent of Americans pay 75 percent of the entire income tax that the government collects. I don't think this is sustainable. I'm not sure what the end result will be but I don't think it will be pretty. I think it was Margaret Thatcher who said socialism is great until you run out of other people's money. I think we are getting close to that in this country.

Took another day of vacation today and worked on the lakehouse. I realize this blog has turned into a photo book of the work but that's the big stuff going on right now. Finished the back wall and began to build the bar frame, this is the only photo I have of that. Needed to get that down so the tilers can tile around it.

This is the hall to the bathroom and bedroom. Finished this up Sunday.

This is a good shot of the Harry Potter bedroom. Farther down are more shots.

This is the inside of the bedroom and the window/door to the Potter room which can be opened or closed depending on the situation.

More work on the Potter room.

Another view of the back wall; you can see the bar bottom.

This is a storage area we built above the Potter room. We'll need all the storage we can find.

This is the area to the left of the Potter room which I finished today. I'll put shelves in but they won't be very wide.

Here are a bunch of photos from my work last evening and this morning. Of the 72 boards I bought Saturday I have 9 left. This photo shows the finished wall above the sliding glass door and the finished wall to the right of the fireplace. The photos below are in reverse order from when I did the work.

I had time this morning to finish the outside wall of the Harry Potter bedroom. If you've read the book, you know he lived under the steps at his Uncle's house (they obviously didn't treat him very well). I'm hoping that this bed is better received; there will be access from both the bedroom and the main room and can be closed off to both or either also. Note the bar shelf on the right.

This shows the completed wall, my work from last night and this morning. Once I get the fireplace finished, this will be done.

I finished the wall to the right of the fireplace this morning and even turned the corner.

Here is the gaggle of wires needed to hook up the 7 surround sound and outdoor speakers to the new receiver that is sitting at home in New Albany.

A view of the wall left of the fireplace. I placed the speakers in the wall for this shot but haven't hooked them up yet. It's too dusty.

Another view showing the in-wall speakers and the different connections needed for the tv and audio equipment.

Here's the new utility closet Mike framed in last weekend.

Here's the back wall of the bedroom with the new pocket door halfway open. I finished this wall yesterday.

The plumbing is finally in the right spot!

Henry with a treasure map he found in a bottle on the beach. The treasure was buried near us in a tupperware container, which is amazing that Pirates used it back in the day.
Nav-a-Gator, you really have to experience this joint.

Jack on #18 and the boys at the Nav-a-Gator.

Putt putt putting. Everyone got a hole in one, Jackie got his on the first hole.

Bowling on the day it was supposed to rain a lot.

Uno game.

A dolphin that scared the crap out of me when it first surfaced next to our boat.

Fishing with Captain Gary. I caught 11 fish this year.

Stump Pass Marina aka The Tiki Bar.

Tiki Bar fun, around the time of the "Yuengling incident".

Gecko hunt.

Burying each other was popular this year. Boys were really into the beach for the first time this year.

Ready for the egg hunt.

It got cool at night.

Jack and Dad having a cold one in the evening.

Henry and Grandma playing solitaire.

Great day today at Great American Ballpark even though the Redlegs lost. I like their team but didn't understand why they put Harang on the mound to open up. He might be their third or fourth best pitcher.

Just got back into town from a nice Easter. We stopped by the lake yesterday on the way to Massillon and I dropped Sarah and the boys off at the house and I went to Carter Lumber to pick up 72 pine boards. There was a lot going on down there, the neighbors put our docks in on Friday and some of the kids next door actually were swimming when we left. Brrr, the water had to be freezing.
We went to my dad's and ate Kraus Pizza for dinner and ended up going to bed fairly early. Today we went to church, it was nice seeing so many of the people I went to church with in my youth. Then Easter dinner/lunch was at Aunt Sally's house where a egg hunt traditionally happens. Here are the boys dividing up the loot. Right after this photo, Henry wiped out on the driveway and cut his arm up pretty bad so we took off back home.
I got a call about going to the Reds opening day tomorrow and I'm going to do it. It's with the new Chair of the House Public Utilities Committee so of course its work related.

Plenty of photos to upload to the blog but its too nice out today to do it now. But here's one from the Tiki Bar we frequent in Englewood. Henry loves playing the ring game; I bought one for the lakehouse.
