I was going to post my total tax payment this year, federal, state and local, medicare, etc. but I can't. It disgusts me how much we pay. This income redistribution is real. 47 percent of Americans pay no income tax. And it's worse than that, they actually get checks back from the federal government. The other 53 percent of us foot the bill for them. Another interesting note, the richest ten percent of Americans pay 75 percent of the entire income tax that the government collects. I don't think this is sustainable. I'm not sure what the end result will be but I don't think it will be pretty. I think it was Margaret Thatcher who said socialism is great until you run out of other people's money. I think we are getting close to that in this country.
