Some photos from Denver. The ones from the convention hall were obviously taken by Sarah. I'm not sure whether I'll go to the floor or not in Minneapolis or not; I've been invited to a box on Tuesday night but I'm scheduled to fly home that day.

I think I like McCain's pick for Vice-President. I like the fact it wasn't the safe pick. I like that its a woman. She highlights the inexperience of Obama and frankly has more on the job training than he does. It will be interesting to see if she appeals to the ten percent of the campaign that both candidates are gunning for. In the end, that will determine how much I like the pick.

I don't dislike Obama. I just don't think he has the experience to be the President of the United States of America. I don't believe I am prepared to be our CEO after working for the company for 15 years. And that's what I equate Obama's bid to, a new employee or mid-level manager trying to become the CEO. I've already posted that I'm not a big fan of some of John McCain's positions but I'm very comfortable with him being the President. He's well seasoned. And that's important to me this year.

I'm back. I was lucky today, my flight left before the airlines had all the delays. Thank god, being stuck at the Denver airport wouldn't have been fun although it is very nice.

It's good to be home, I missed the boys. But I also had fun in Denver, it's a great town. Conventions are generally fun but you do see the same people over and over again. You really aren't talking a lot about issues but I do think its a great tool for relationship building.

Someone asked me last night whether the democrat convention is different than the Republican ones. This being my first democrat convention, I had wondered about that too. But my answer was easy, they are the same. Structured events all day, full schedule of parties at night. There's not a lot going on during the day for non-delegates but after 9:00 p.m. its free drinks and that doesn't end until the bars close down. Last night we were at a ESPNzone and had a great time playing video games, shooting baskets, racing cars, etc. I was beat afterwards but we still managed to stay up until 2:00 a.m.

Sarah got passes tonight and is at the convention as I type. I'm glad she had the chance to go, its definitely a cool thing to do once.

Rocky Mountain National Park was beautiful. I'm not sure what other words I can use to describe it. Definitely a place I would go back to. I'd love to hike there but the thin air would make it interesting. I'll post some photos when our camera makes it back to Ohio on Thursday.

This morning, I went to the Colorado Capitol Building. As noted in a previous post, I collect Capitol Buildings (and also National Park patches but I only have 3 different patches thus far) so I'm glad I had a chance to see it. Afterwards, our driver took us around Denver and showed us some of the sites. I'm glad I got to do that, up to that point I felt like I hadn't seen much of it.

Blogging from the DNC.

Denver seems like a great town. I haven't seen too much of it yet but we are driving out to Rocky Mountain National Park this afternoon. Sarah and I didn't make it out to Reds Rocks last night because our bus driver got lost but we ended up having a great dinner. Late Night with Dominion was a success but I was exhausted at 1:00 am. We sponsored breakfast this morning and had our CEO say a few words, that too was a success.

Lots of democrats out here.

Today was picture day for the Purple Storm. Afterwards, they had a short scrimmage. Henry played pitcher and had a lot of balls hit to him.

In this team photo, Henry is the second from the left, bottom row.

Batting third in the lineup.

My schedule:

Saturday: Henry has photo day for t-ball, then a short practice plus a scrimmage. I wish their colors weren't purple; I had to go out and buy him white baseball pants. In-laws are coming in the early afternoon and we'll celebrate Henry's birthday tomorrow night with them.

Sunday: Sarah and I leave for Denver. I'm very hesitant to fly on the same plane with her and wish we weren't on the same flight. But we are and I have to deal with it. Then there's the Democrat convention and I worry about the security out there. I know there will be lots of intended chaos and I'll be glad to get out of there on Tuesday.

Monday: Henry starts his pre-k class. I am so bummed that I am going to miss it; I really wish either Sarah or I could be there. He'll be fine though, he already knows several kids in the class from his current class and that always makes things easier.

Tuesday: I leave Denver and life returns to normal. Until Sunday when I leave for the Republican Convention.

IL

I don't mind coming to IL but its not always the most exciting. Today I'm working a booth at Old Settlers Days in Hillsboro. Its always hard to eat healthy at fairs and festivals.

Henry had his second baseball practice today and this time I took the camera.

Jack and Henry fooling around.

Jack loved sitting in this upside down stool.

Henry really swam well this year with the help of a life jacket. I'm hoping by next year he's a real swimmer.

Henry and Jack in the baby pool.

Henry and his new girlfriend from next door.

Afternoon swim off the pontoon boat.

Jack was not shy about sticking his hand in the bait bucket and pulling out a minnow.

We planted two maple trees for Henry and Jack.

If you ever wonder why I don't post any photos of Sarah, its because she yells at me everytime I have.
