Henry practicing hockey tonight.
Father-in-law practicing hockey tonight. He was passing the ball (puck) to Henry.

Bill and Henry playing hockey tonight. Henry beat him 2 out of 3 times but the last game went down to 9-9 when Henry put the puck behind Bill's goalie but not quite in the goal. I lifted up the game and the puck slid in. Henry wins. Hey, it was time for his bath and bed anyway.
Good news, Westerville has a co-ed teeball league in the fall that Henry can play in. We bought a bucket of 12 balls and a new aluminum bat a few weeks ago. I better get him a helmet though if we've graduated from whiffle balls.

Henry met Governor Strickland today. The Gov was eating in the Statehouse cafeteria and I took Henry up to say hi. Sarah was apalled that I would interupt his lunch but hey, how often does a 4-year old get to see the Governor? Now he's met both Bob Taft and Ted Strickland, I'm pretty sure there aren't too many 4-year olds who have done that.

I signed Henry up for soccer today. I'm excited for him, I remember how much I enjoyed playing on different teams growing up. I never played soccer but I want Henry to be exposed to everything that he enjoys. I really can't wait until he starts with baseball but I haven't found a league yet that will allow 4 year olds. I'll keep looking.

As I was walking six blocks to eat lunch in Springfield, IL on Thursday, I had to think and laugh about global warming. What a cruel trick, the earth is warming and it's freaking ten below with the wind chill. I needed a hat.

The whole family is sick. I'm getting over mine, Sarah didn't feel good today and Jack threw up five times this afternoon after waking from a 3 hour nap. Luckily, he was fine this morning when we got his one year photos taken.

You know something you never see anymore? Hare Krishnas. I thought about that while walking through the airport yesterday. Airports and college campuses don't seem the same anymore without chanting bald guys in robes.

Having some problems loading video to the blog, sorry. And I'm headed to Springfield tomorrow morning for an overnighter so I won't be able to post anything for a couple days. I'm going to start trying to post something every day after that. So be prepared.

And let's go retro and post a photo of Baby Jack.

Jackson Square

Where else? Bourbon Street

Henry starts hockey tonight at the Y. It's just on the b.b. court but I'm sure he'll love it.
Here are a few last photos from New Orleans. That's Mike Horner below the guy in stilts, this was during the parade we jumped into.

I'm not sure who this girl is but Tim ended up sleeping in the hallway because of her. Yeah, I'm sure this young girl was interested in Tim...

Somehow, we ended up outside the LSU pep rally. As you can see, we were clearly outnumbered here too but we came down to Decatur Street to buy some victory cigars.

Here is the LSU tailgate I stumbled into before the game where I was the only Ohio State fan. Everyone was very nice.

Here are some more photos. Here is Chrisy and I on Sunday night. Water would have been a good idea at that point.

Bourbon Street on Tuesday night, dead.
Here is where Emeril's aged their meat and kept some wine. I wish it came out better.

My steak, this photo doesn't do it justice. I don't like green beans but these were good because they were cooked in bacon fat.

Our restaurant, Emeril's Delmonico.

Sarah and I at the game.

We were on the 22-yard line.

The gang, Horns, Hen, me and Tony.

The bigger gang all gathered at Tropical Isle on Sunday evening.

Dinner Sunday night.

Bourbon Street on Sunday night.

The New Orleans trip was a lot of fun but had its bad moments, mostly from 7:00 - 11:00 pm on Monday night. I drank too much on Sunday, drank too much on Monday, drank moderately on Tuesday and quit drinking for two months on Wednesday. Sarah is doing it too, we are giving up alcohol until our Florida trip. I've actually decided to give up heavy drinking altogether. I figure I'm 42 years old, have had my fun and want to start thinking about living a long life for my family. My neighbor a few houses down died last week at the age of 45, leaving a wife and three kids, two of them small ones. It really has had an effect on me although he died of a freak illness that could hit anyone. Regardless, time to make some good changes in my life.

Here are some photos from the Big Easy. I should say that Sarah and I had a fantastic meal at Emeril's Delmonico on Tuesday night. We both had the 21 day aged prime steak, Sarah a strip and me a ribeye, and it was the best steak I've ever had. Oh, and I was in a parade down Bourbon Street on Sunday night.

Well, I'm off to the Big Easy in the morning. I'm excited finally. I'll miss the boys but I'm sure they will have fun with the grandparents.

Go Bucks.

12:42 a.m. New Year's Day

Sarah showed me a post I made last year on New Year's Eve. My goals are probably similar in one respect, work out more, eat healthier. I've been slacking in that lately but I am going to change that.

I think everyone is finally in bed tonight. I cleaned up the kitchen and put all the perishable items in the fridge. I have 5 or 6 guys coming over tomorrow to watch football all day so I better have some food to give them. I suspect things will kick off with a bloody mary at 9 or so when Jackie wakes up, that's a dream that he'll sleep that long without crying. He's such a good baby for the most part, so happy and always ready with a smile. But his teething has not been pleasant, he gets up and sobs in the middle of the night. Sarah says I'm soft for getting him and taking him into bed with us but I feel so bad for him.

Our party tonight was a lot of fun. The food was okay, we probably put the meat in for a tad too long and the potatoes in for not long enough but everyone ate their food. Afterwards, we played Catchphrase and it was a lot of fun. The kids celebrated midnight with us with sparkling cider so that was fun. Henry had this look on his face like "I don't know what's going on but its a blast".

I made reservations today at Arnaud's in New Orleans for the day of the national championship. I suspect we'll need some food in our stomaches around 2:00 or so and you can't get better than Arnaud's in N.O. I'm getting excited about the game, I'm excited to show Sarah the city and to share it with some of my good friends. Wrap all that up with a possible national championship for the Buckeyes and things are good.
