No news on my eyes, they are pretty much the same as before. Maybe they are getting better, maybe they are getting worse, who can really tell? But the one thing I know is that they over-corrected them. I might regress back to where they should be, I might not. Six months from now I'll pretty much know what I need. A long six months. For now, I can get around with some drugstore glasses.

So now I can add video to my blog. I'll have to try that when I have some time.

Here are some recent photos of Henry and Jack.

I feel better about my eyes now. Yesterday, I stopped in to see my regular eye doctor and told her I was concerned about my eyes. She looked at them and said that they are almost healed but that there was scar tissue right in the middle of my eye and that's why I was blurry.

She had PRK also and told me to just be patient. I guess that's hard for me to do but I don't have a choice.

Now I know why there weren't any testimonials about PRK in the "what patients say" book that the eye doctor has sitting out. It was definitely a process and its not over yet. Painful process at that. Everything pretty much went textbook until Monday morning when they took the "band-aid" contacts out; I really haven't been able to see too well since. I can get around, but I really can't read, watch tv or be on the computer much. I'm hoping this will gradually improve but its been a giant frustration thus far. More later, if I can type.

I'm going in for LASIK eye surgery this morning. Actually, it's PRK and it is kind of the original eye correction laser surgery. My corneas are very thin and my pupils are abnormally large so this is pretty much my only option. The doctor will remove my outer cornea, laser the correction, put in a band-aid contact and send me home. It will apparently be pretty painful as the cornea grows back over the next couple days but my vision improvement will be immediate and will continue to improve, hopefully to 20-20 but I'll take 20-40.

I'm excited and a little nervous. It's hard to explain how bad my eyes are but legally blind isn't too far off. But that definition includes people who can not correct their vision, obviously I can with lenses so I don't fall under that category. Let's put it this way, I can not function without glasses or contacts. So this is a big thing. I can't wait to wake up and be able to read the clock.

So, at around 11:10 this morning I'll lay down on a table and subject my corneas to laser pinpoints of light and hope for the best.

Our last night in Canada produced a nice sunset.
Here's Sarah, floating on a raft and drinking a beer.

Henry takes on Papa in a game of memory and beats him. He's a smart little boy. That's Grandma in the background feeding Jack.

The Captain and Henry take the boat out on a cruise. I'm having LASIK eye surgery on Friday and had to wear my glasses the whole time in Canada.

Jack goes skinny dipping in Buck Lake.

Henry and the grandparents go on a bear hunt.

I think this is a great quote:

Library of Congress Marcus Aurelius: "The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane" .

I'm heading to Boston this morning for a legislative conference. Looking forward to visiting some of the historical sites. I'm really not going to have that much time, get in this afternoon, dinner tonight with some legislators, big meeting tomorrow morning at 11 then Ohio night tomorrow night. I'll get out early Tuesday morning and sightsee since I'm coming back Wednesday.

Sarah will pick me up to the airport and we'll head to Rochester to spend the night before heading to Buck Lake in Canada on Thursday morning. I'm still not sure how long we'll be gone, we are either coming back Monday or Tuesday. Maybe it'll depend on the weather. Then next Friday I am getting LASIK eye surgery. I'm getting excited about it, I really believe it will change my life to be able to see again without glasses or contacts.

So, no posts for a week but I'm sure there will be plenty of photos. I'll post a few now from the past few days.
