Life

The week is finally over.  And its been a long one.  Everyone’s flight leaves at 6:10 a.m. tomorrow and I haven’t even tried to figure out what that means for my alarm clock besides early.  I’m fortunate that I can sleep on airplanes because that’s my plan when my flight leaves at 4:30 tomorrow afternoon. 

It appears at this point as if I won’t have to come back to Columbus from Florida next week for a vote on a big bill I’ve been working on.  It’s nice to have friends in the legislature but I didn’t ask for any special treatment on this one.  But I’ll take it. 

My Uncle Nick died today.  I didn’t know him very well but I liked him.  I know he was a good Republican and he was always nice to me when he was in Massillon.  Uncle Nick will be buried in Massillon and there will be a service on Saturday morning.  Not the best time for me because we were supposed to leave for Florida that morning but I’m going to head down a little later in the day (thanks to Southwest Airlines, they are incredible and accommodated two changes to my itinerary).  I’ve missed other Aunt and Uncle funerals in my day but I need to be at this one. 

I didn’t have the best day at work today either.  Funny how some days go I guess.  I wrote this somewhere else today“Sometimes, after a rough day at work and in life, the only thing that makes you feel good is your family and a bourbon on the rocks. Cheers to Uncle Nick, a man I wish I had known better.”  I’m not sure what Uncle Nick’s favorite drink was but I think bourbon is fitting. 

That pretty much sums it up I think. 

I didn’t go down last weekend but Mike, my guy helping me work on the lakehouse, did today and here’s a photo of the bar.

Today we received Henry’s nomination to get tested for the New Albany gifted student program. I don’t know if he’s gifted or not but I do know he’s smart. And even if he doesn’t get into the program, I’m proud that he was nominated a year before they normally start testing kids.

Two weeks from today we’ll be in Florida.  Hoping for days full of bright sunshine and blue skies after the dreary winter we’ve had. 

Henry’s basketball season has wrapped up and he starts soccer next weekend.  Jack’s soccer practices don’t start for a while. 

Found this on the internet.  I had hoped all photos from 1984-1988 had been destroyed. 

A busy few days while Sarah is in Texas.  Tomorrow I don’t have anything except a lunch so I’m looking forward to catching up on life.

Here are a couple photos from today’s work.  It was fun, we are almost finished but have some of the detail work left and the stain of course. 

I have a big Monday.  Meeting with the Speaker of the House, President of the Senate and Chairman of the PUCO.  I’m not sure I’ve ever hit that trifecta before. 

Thanks to Sarah, Henry finally lost his front tooth that was hanging by a thread.  Unfortunately, he swallowed it because of her technique.  He’s not too happy but at least its out.
