Today was a bittersweet day. On the one hand, we closed on the cottage so that was nice getting all that paperwork out of the way. On the other hand, it looks like the Governor is going to veto an amendment that the utilities put in the transportation budget. I'm a competitive person and like to win in everything I do. It's frustrating to go through the process of getting something passed by the General Assembly then have one person be able to stop it. But that's politics I guess. Sometimes the good guys don't win and this was an issue that was beneficial to both our customers and our company.

Disney's castle never gets old.
The boys.
Henry and I with Captain Hook. I can't remember the other guy's name.
In the Swiss Family Treehouse. Lots of walking with a heavy two year old.
The Briggs family on the Aladdin carpet ride. The boys were fine; Sarah was terrified.
I secretly believe Walt Disney is frozen and stored below this statue of him and Mickey Mouse.
This is the cabin we stayed at in Fort Wilderness.
We watched the fireworks from the grounds of the campground.
Which one is Chip and which one is Dale?

We made purchase #2 for the cottage today, a sleeper sofa. Everything is pretty much on sale nowadays but I think we got a pretty good deal on this queen sized bed/couch. It's comfortable, has a nice mattress and a longer warrenty than we found anywhere else.
Here's hoping my taxes result in a refund this year. I dropped them off just before we found the couch.
It's been rainy in Pinehurst this weekend but I'm still sad about the trip. I figure I ended up saving $500 by not going but I still lost some money in the deal in non-refundable expenses i.e. airfare and lodging. Oh well, my job is more important than a golf trip any day of the week.

I have been absolutely swamped this week with one issue in the state Transportation budget. It's important enough that I canceled my planned spring golf trip to Pinehurst this weekend because the legislature is having Saturday and Sunday hearings.

Is this the end of America?
By Terence Corcoran
Helicopter Ben Bernanke's Federal Reserve is dropping trillions of fresh paper dollars on the world economy, the President of the United States is cracking jokes on late night comedy shows, his energy minister is threatening a trade war over carbon emissions, his treasury secretary is dithering over a banking reform program amid rising concerns over his competence and a monumentally dysfunctional U.S. Congress is launching another public jihad against corporations and bankers.
As an aghast world — from China to Chicago and Chihuahua — watches, the circus-like U.S. political system seems to be declining into near chaos. Through it all, stock and financial markets are paralyzed. The more the policy regime does, the worse the outlook gets. The multi-ringed spectacle raises a disturbing question in many minds: Is this the end of America?

Here was my first purchase for the lake cottage. I know, I have a ton of pictures to upload from FL and Disney but this is too much fun.

Cinci
We are in Cincinnati this weekend for Alisa's wedding. Not my first choice after being away for a week and needing to get a lot of stuff planned for the lake cottage but its one of those things we can't miss.

We're back. I think we have over 500 photos so there will be lots on here over the next week or so. This one is from when we first arrived at Disney.

Florida has been great so far. We've done a lot of things that we've done in the past but it doesn't seem old. It's Wednesday already and we only have two more days in Englewood then its off to Orlando and Disney. The weather forecast looks great, it got warm yesterday afternoon and today was great. Tomorrow looks downright hot. No rain in the forecast, that was my big concern for the weekend when we are headed to Disney.

on the lake
Sarah and I bought a lake cottage today on Seneca Lake. I'm not sure if it was the right thing to do or not but the alternatives didn't seem all that great. Save my money or invest it. In case anyone hasn't noticed, I don't have a lot of confidence in our government to get us out of this mess but I believe we will get out in spite of it.
Tigertown Properities also bought a house a few days ago. I think its the last house we'll buy but that investment seems like an easy one. We have tenants and I'm hopeful that we will for the next ten years. When these homes are paid off in 10-12 years, we can sell them or keep them. If we get to that point, good for us.
So my days of real estate buying are coming to an end. Kinda makes me sad because there are some great deals in Florida right now. Maybe if I hit the lotto...
