We had the neighbors over on Saturday night for a little 4th birthday party for Jack. He had a great time but he doesn't turn 4 until Friday.

Henry

I didn’t get very many good shots from Henry’s first game but here is one.  His team struggled and Henry didn’t get to shoot the ball very much but he’s probably the best ball handler on the team.

Sarah got an ipad yesterday from her work. It saves me from having to buy her one, I had kinda promised to get version 2 when it comes out. I played around with it last night, its cool but its just a toy in my mind. It's essentially a big ipod that you can use to browse the internet. The picture quality is excellent though; I've heard that competitors will be even better which is hard to believe. I did think it was too heavy though to use as a book reader. I'm still planning on getting a Kindle; it's a third of the weight of the ipad and will be much more comfortable on my pocketbook.

Henry went to see Dr. Berkowitz today.  He’s the orthodontist who did wonders with my teeth.  Bottom line, Henry will have to get braces in 3 years to ensure space for a couple of his teeth.  Pretty much the exact thing I had if left unchecked.  Not the best news of the years but everything else looks good.

Frantic day at work, at least for a Monday.  Jack played up today in soccer with the bigger kids.  He struggled but had some good plays.  And he smiled the whole time, even when the big kids pushed him down.  Didn’t know you could get turf in your mouth from an artificial surface…

College

Just typed all Henry’s info into a college calculator and its telling me that we will be able to pay 75 percent of his college costs based on what we have currently saved and what we are putting into his account.  I think that’s a fair number, I never set out to pay 100 percent of his costs.  Of course, this is all assuming that the stock market doesn’t crash multiple times over the next 11 years…

Kind of a boring weekend.  I took the boys to a birthday party today; Sarah went to a movie.  Church tomorrow then no plans.  What else are we going to do when its freezing?

Lakehouse

I really really need to get down to the lake.  One, I’m concerned some wild animal has gotten in the house so I need to make sure that hasn’t happened. Two, I need to build the bar in the basement.

Jack soccer

So I have to agree with Jack’s soccer coach, he’s a superstar.  I think he scored 15 goals tonight; I’m not sure anyone else on either team scored a goal.  Photos didn’t come out so great but here are a few.

more Kinect fun.

We got the Kinect for our xbox360. No more controllers for our video games. Of course, this is what it looks like...

Jack dancing in his seat.

Heading up to Mansfield this morning for a ski lesson for Jack.  Henry doesn’t want to do it for some reason but he’s still going along with us.  For a family of non-skiers, I’m excited for Jack.  Who knows, maybe I’ll finally try it, bad knee and all.

Jack

Jack is in a soccer program at his daycare; they have a weekly session and he just started a Monday night league.  I’ve missed his first two games because of New Orleans and the Governor’s Gala but Sarah says he is really good.  He scored 5 goals on Monday.  This morning I saw the guy who teaches them at daycare.  He called Jack a “superstar” and said they might have to move him up to the bigger league.  Another Briggs boy who looks like he will be an athlete.  Makes a dad proud.

A day

I am going to try to post something on my blog every day. If it’s not photos, it’ll be a one liner on the days events.  Today’s post would read something like this: A day like most other days.  That pretty much means nothing exciting happened today.

Kasich Gala

Here I am last night at the Kasich Inaugural Ball. That's Emily Niehaus
(Senate President's wife and a nice lady), Rachel Winder who works for
Frontier Communications and Matt Forney, who is an independent lobbyist.

TEST

I know, another long drought. I'm going to try something different with the blog so stay tuned. Here's what been happening in the Briggs family: great Christmas, wild New Year's, I headed to New Orleans to watch the Buckeyes win the Sugar Bowl and Saturday night we went to Cleveland to watch Toy Story 3 on Ice in our company suite (left). Now its time to get back to work, at least after the Kasich Gala tomorrow night. I'm ready.
I'll post a bunch of photos from the last few weeks soon.
